Devizes RFC

Devizes will welcome Berkshire side Thatcham to the Chivers Ground on the first day of the 2019/2020 season.  With the season starting on Saturday 14th September, Director of Rugby Joe Alford, will be looking to get off to a solid start as the Saddlebacks face the side they finished the previous campaign against. The first away day fixture, sees a tough assignment at Grove where the lads will be looking to put in a much improved performance following last year's comprehensive defeat, although will take a lot of confidence from defeating the Oxfordshire side on their own turf in March.  Other intriguing fixtures include the meeting on Saturday 26th October at home to local rivals Frome, whom narrowly missed out on promotion to Level 6 with a home defeat in their promotion playoff against Buckingham; the return of Swindon RFC to the Chivers Ground on 7th December and on the penultimate day of the season, hosting Swindon College Old Boys on 4th April.  Southern Counties South this year includes Swanage & Wareham and Combe Down who replace the relegated Dorchester and Bradford on Avon.

The Development Squad start their season with a tough away trip to Supermarine 1st XV whom were relegated from Dorset & Wilts North 1 last season.  The first home game of the season for the Development squad will take place on Saturday 21st September against Swindon College Old Boys 2s. 

Devizes' preseason commences on Tuesday 2nd July, where there will be a players/coaches meeting at Devizes Sports Club for a 7pm start.  Preseason sessions commence on Thursday 4th July with the venue to be confirmed.  Team building activities are being planned throughout the preseason window, with Saturday 3rd August marked as a team building day over Roundway, followed by a BBQ at the Ivy Inn in Heddington.

Thursday 29th August - Home v Avon - Trial Match

Tuesday 3rd September - Joint Training Session with Royal Wotton Bassett

Saturday 7th September - Away - Saddlebacks & Development XV v Wolverhampton RFC
